    1998 400 Kodiak Reverse Problem

My kodiak wont shift into reverse when i step onto foot brake pedal and try to shift it into reverse. Is this a bad cable that goes from foot brake to shift lever. If so how does it come out of the shifter i see a long nut do i just un thread or do i have to take shifter apart. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

cable may be stretched , adjusting the cable housing should fix it

Is that the adjustment at the foot pedal or at the shifter?
