Hi Gang,
My search for a new unit cotinues...quite the learning process.
Question, I am looking at a 2009 unit the has a 2nd owner already, and has a 2 yr extended warranty. Is this warranty transferable regardless on # of previous owners?
Also, a buddy mentioned to stay away from the unit because of 2 owners already...red flag for potential problems. Not sure I agree but figured I would throw it out there.
Unt also has a clutch kit. Buddy said to stay away from clutch kits?? Wow, too much to consider here.....
Thank for any help.
Tom Allen
By the way unit is a 2009 sportsman 850 xp.

if its a 2009 and on its 2nd owner already there must be something wrong...although i wouldnt buy it because of being a polaris...i just dont like them, nothing against the polaris guys out there, i know ppl dont like yamaha either, its just that i wouldnt own one, opinions are like a#$H*L&es everyone has one...LOL but 2nd owner and only 1 year old.....not for me.
clutch kits dont seem to be an issue with most bikes but if improperly installed then it will give any bike a problem..
Thank you CBMEDIC for your words of wisdom. The whole forum was hoping you'd give us your opinion. You did notice, I hope, that the thread didn't ask for a Polaris vs Yamaha vs A/Cat vs Suzuki vs Honda vs Kawasaki comentary. It was about the wisdom of choosing this one particular machine. I don't think I would be choosing this machine (depending on $$ and how you would be using it. Has it had the recall work done on the front ball joints (warranty). If you hear a metallic clink sound in the front or feel movement in the handlebars/steering column, it may not have beeen done. If it is clutched, what size tires doe's/or did it have? An 850, in all likely hood has been ridden aggresively, who wouldn't. Its one of the most comfortable riding machines on the market. Check the CV joints first. Check the belts and trans second. Doe's it jerk hard in L or R at the clutch engagement? Best rule of thumb is "how do I want to ride it?" & will it do what I want.

Hey gang,
Thanks much for all of your posts on warranty topic.
I decided to buy used from a dealer 2005 sportsman 800 efi....mint shape only 350 miles...hopefully no need for a warranty. The machine is mint no rough riding at all.
Musky....
